Why are you called Public Insurance Adjusters?
- To distinguish us from independent adjusters who are hired by insurance companies and staff adjusters who are employees.
- Both independent and staff adjusters handle claims exclusively on behalf of insurance companies.
- Public insurance adjusters represent home, business and other property owners who suffered damage and need to recover from their insurance company.
- We are advocates for the public. We work for you.
Can I handle my own claim?
- You can handle your own claim but you are at a significant disadvantage.
- Insurance policies impose certain duties on the policyholder and there are clearly established adjustment practices.
- Effectively handling an insurance claim requires specialized knowledge of policy provisions, estimating principles, and claim procedures.
- It is also important to know the outcome of similar claims so you know if you are being treated fairly.
- Insurance companies use professionals to handle claims, you should do the same.
Why should I hire a Public Insurance Adjuster?
Insurance companies hire, train, and direct professionals to handle claims on their behalf.
Home, business and other types of property owners need and deserve professionals who work exclusively for them.
Knowledgeable and experienced professionals who know the process and will be strong advocates.
You could try to present your own claim to the insurance company on your own but you would be taking a great risk.
Will my rates go up if I make a claim?
This is the most common question that we receive.
Whether or not filing a claim will result in a higher premium depends on several factors – what caused the damage, if you have any prior claims, when those prior claims occurred, and the guidelines for your specific insurance company.
Alliance Adjustment Group will always help you decide if a claim makes sense for you.
In most cases, the benefit of filing a claim is far greater than any impact on your premium.
Will my insurance company cancel me for filing a claim?
This is the second most common question right behind the concern about increased rates.
In Pennsylvania, insurance companies cannot cancel a homeowners policy for claim volume or any other residential policy for that matter.
Cancellation or non-renewal can only occur for specific reasons such as non-payment of premium or a substantial change in risk.
There are different rules in New Jersey and other states.
How does this all work?
When you decide to work with Alliance Adjustment Group, we take care of the entire process.
We report the claim to the insurance company then schedule all necessary inspections.
We evaluate the full extent of damage and meet directly with representatives of the insurance company.
We notify you whenever the insurance company issues a payment and we explain it to you.
We continue to negotiate with the insurance company until you are satisfied with the settlement, and we document all activity throughout the process.
We handle all the details and strive to make the process as easy as possible for you while maximizing your settlement at the same time.
How will I know when checks are issued?
We completely understand that our clients are concerned about transparency.
We share all correspondence that is received and sent to the insurance company. This includes notification of all payments.
It is also common for insurance companies to send email notifications to policyholders whenever a payment is issued.
It is far more likely that you will hear about a payment more than once than not at all.
What makes Alliance different from other adjusters?
When you hire Alliance, you get so much more than an adjuster.
Alliance is a team of skilled, experienced and compassionate individuals who will guide you through the entire claim process.
There are team members who specialize in every aspect of the claim from initial reporting to coordinating all inspections to processing correspondence and promptly disbursing payments.
There is always someone to talk with who is willing to listen and help in any way possible. You will never feel alone.
What types of claims does Alliance handle?
Most people understand that insurance policies cover damage caused by fire, plumbing discharges, and significant weather events. Alliance Adjustment Group handles these type of claims every day.
Theft and vandalism are other frequent losses that we handle.
But most people have no idea about the broad nature of today’s insurance policies.
The typical policy covers everything that happens to your house except for certain exclusions like flood, wear & tear, and earth movement.
There is coverage for gouging the kitchen floor when you drop a pot, spilling bleach on the carpet, or when your teenage overflows the washing machine with an oversized load.
These are just some of the claims we handle.
How long does this take?
All claims are different but there are certain things you can rely upon.
For instance, the first inspection with a representative of the insurance company will occur quickly because they want to see the loss soon after it happened.
It usually takes less than a week to meet with the insurance company on-site.
The initial inspection and payment are generally received 10-20 days after the initial inspection.
This is longer than most people expect. Insurance companies are large organizations. Everyone reports to a manager and there is an “approval process.”
After the initial payment, it is common to perform a reinspection with the insurance company which often leads to one or more supplemental payments.
You can trust that Alliance Adjustment Group is persistent; we will continue to negotiate with your insurance company until you are satisfied with the settlement.
How do you get paid?
When you hire Alliance Adjustment Group, we sign a contingency fee agreement.
Alliance receives a percentage of the proceeds that are actually paid by the insurance company.
The percentage varies according to the type of claim and the severity of the damages.
You can be certain there are no up-front or hidden costs whatsoever.
Alliance is your partner, we only get paid by getting you paid.
And we get paid based on results so we are motivated to achieve the best possible settlement.
